After inspecting a cylinder head I was planning on installing, two water jackets are really leaving me worried about the head gasket making a tight seal. What do you think?
I tried getting a few shots to give you the depth of the problem:

AND I'm also wondering about the buildup on three combustion chambers exhaust side.. One CC checked out fine while the others have a black buildup on them (outer ring area).

That things got some good corrosion, I would get the head surfaced.

bummer on the fucked up pistons, they can only be gotten from ford with the connecting rod attached as an assembly also ford only sells them in stock size. So the block cant be bored.

I stopped by Route 9 Machine & Welding for filling the water jacket corrosion areas, a valve job, resurface, and cleaning. Total: $175
Should be finished Friday :)

What are you going to be doing for the VCT?  I assume tune it out?  Never really thought about swapping a SVTF head onto a Z.  I guess your trying to raise the CR?  ALso, do you have the whole SVT motor?

I'm leaving the VCT unplugged until I get it tuned, which the VCT will be used as a power adder for low end. The SVTF head has a 43cc combustion chamber as compared to a zx2's 48cc, which is .6 more to the compression ratio with a SVTF head gasket, thus giving you 10.2:1. You can up the compression ratio to 10.6:1 by using a standard .027" head gasket, which will net you some relatively cheap power.
I had the head resurfaced, the water jackets weld filled, a valve job, and a thorough cleaning done on the head for $175. I'm really looking forward to the gains this swap will produce.
I'm using Felpro gaskets for the install. Parts also going on:
Ford Racing UDP
Kent adj. cam gear on exhaust side
SVTF intake manifold
ZXtuner Header

Later on:
SVTF header and custom midpipe

What's left:
For those that are interested, I still need to get the wiring done. I need to get the vacuum lines installed--especially the evap shit. The ZXtuner header I have on the way will be on Wednesday. I broke the crank position sensor, so I'll be trying to snag one tomorrow or something. The oil needs changed. One of the coolant hoses needs to be routed. Intake piping & maf needs installed.
Yes, that's a SVT coil pack. It runs slightly hotter than our stock one. We'll see how it does when the car starts.
Wednesday or Thursday, the car will at least start.
Important How-to Stuff:
The engine mount on the passenger side needs the damper removed for the VCT spool to fit. You also need the SVT upper timing bracket and pullies. You have to cut one part off the upper timing bracket for it to sit flush. Don't buy a SVTF alternator bracket because it doesn't fit our alternator. You can use the stock one.
I'll write a semi-how-to for this once I successfully get the car to run.
Overall, a great day of progress.
Yeah..

I made a bit of progress today.. got all of the important wiring done (Fuel pressure sensor, TPS, IAC) and also fitted a VCT plug that adapts to the SVT. This'll be included in the possible how-to. I got the A/C(or heater; idk) vacuum line hooked up. I still need to get the brake booster line that goes to the intake, as well as the brake booster line that comes from the back of the SVT manifold. I got my MMi intake set-up in place and it's looking really nice. I highly recommend you purchase a MMi intake for this swap as it has all the right bends you're looking for. I also recommend you get a sheet of cork gasket stuff and make a MAF adapter gasket. The crank position sensor is on order at Autozone and will be here tomorrow. The SVT throttle bracket should be here tomorrow as well.
After work tomorrow, I should have the throttle cable finished, the vacuum lines done, the heater hose figured out, and the crank pos sensor installed. On Wednesday, the oil will be changed, new coolant will be poured, the accessory belt installed, and the rad fan will be bolted up. Should have a video or a big rant by Wed. night, haha.

I talked with a guy and he attempted a supercharged Zetec; didn't really work out because the firewall needed cutting for it to work IIRC.

Hey guys, I finished installing parts on the SVT ZX2, but I can't get the car to fire up.
First try was with the cam position sensor unplugged and with a SVT coil pack/wires. Car started for maybe a second or two and died. After that, I couldn't get the car to fire up.
Second try, I changed the coil pack and wires to a stock setup with ford racing 9mm wires. Nothing.
Third try, I plugged in the cam position sensor. Nothing.
It can't be too many things. The fuel pump primes and there is fuel in the lines. The stock coil pack and wired worked on my stock ZX2 head. I replaced the crank position sensor with one from Autozone before firing the car up because I broke the stock one during the head swap. Here are some vids.. hopefully you can help me out!

The VCT spool is advancing or retarding the cams. Every time I get the car timed correctly, the car will start and the vct spool will slowly re-time itself. It throws the idle off really bad. The idle also sticks if I give it gas

Can you eliminate the VCT as in disable it or even lock it.

welp, congrats on at least getting the car to start!  when youre doing such invasive 'surgery', simply starting is half the battle!
